so you'd like to work together
First of all: thank you for considering me for your project! If you already know what you're looking for, please feel free to head over to the contact page and send me a message.
If you're interested in editing, you're in the right place. If you're interested in formatting, whether on its own or in addition to editing, I have a separate page for that.
Below is a little bit about me, my experience, what types of stories I typically work with, and what you can expect moving forward.
about me (take two)
I love working with authors who have distinct voices and perspectives to share. I am committed to understanding each author's vision and goals so we can bring them to fruition and successfully maintain them throughout a project. If you've ever hesitated because you feel your ideas are too unconventional, easily misconstrued, or altogether just hard to execute, we might be a good fit for each other.
You can find my portfolio both on this site and, for any works hosted there, on itch.io.
None of the below information is meant as a wish list; it's designed to give you an overview of my experience. If you're interested in working together on something outside my usual scope, I would love to hear from you. I am more invested in whether we mesh as people and how our creative processes suit each other than strictly committing to a genre.
About me & my usual work:
- I've worked as a fiction editor intermittently since 2018, and consistently since 2020. I work with adult fiction, and particularly love speculative fiction (sci-fi, fantasy, horror; anything outside the realm of strict realism).
- I love moral ambiguity, unusual science and magic, and straight-up bad people. Anything playing with grey areas and blurring the lines of black-and-white thinking is my jam. Is it difficult to gauge whether your antagonist deserves more sympathy than scorn? What about your protagonist? Come closer.
- NSFW / R18 work is great and encouraged, including violence, gore, sexual content, and kink.
- I am open to working on novels, novellas, short stories, anthologies, comic and graphic novel scripts, and game writing (such as text-heavy visual novels or narrative games). If you have a project type not listed here you'd like to inquire about, please feel free!
- I'm happy to work on projects of any length. Please keep in mind, however, that I may not be able to accommodate very quick turnaround times, especially on longer works. If I am able to accommodate a tight deadline, I reserve the right to discuss a rush charge with you.
- My one “wish list” item is getting to work with other QTPOC creators, but all my white folks out there should still hit me up.
What you can expect from me:
- For line and copy edits, I can provide a 1000 word sample edit upon request, free of charge, to see if we'll work well together. If you feel a longer edit is needed, either in addition to or in place of the initial 1000 words, I'm happy to discuss specifics with you.
- As execution goes, I am super flexible. If you like passing documents back and forth via email, that's great. If you prefer a real-time collaborative workspace (like Dropbox or Google docs), we can do that, too.
rates + definitions
Below is a basic overview of my standard editing rates. Please keep in mind that these may vary based on your deadline, scope, or budget.
Two things to keep in mind:
- I am always happy to try and accommodate a budget. If you're interested in working together but the rates below don't meet your needs, please reach out anyway!
- Bundles of 2 services receive a 5% discount; bundles of 3 or more services receive a 10% discount.
